Aventuras!

So many great outings, so many great people to adventure with!
At least once a week we'd take an invitation to join the many friends who wanted to take us to experience the area, or have simple outings as a family.

Plenty of kind boat taxi drivers were happy to get us places on the river...
...in different kinds of boats...
...usually with a stop at the floating gas station.
It's always a beautiful ride just watching the banks along the way.

When we went to explore the other side of the river one day...

...we found a lovely little farm.
The kind people there were so generous to welcome us in and share their pet parrots and let us explore the land behind their place.

Some other friends took us on a boat outing to a little island of sand in the river.

You can see Jerica in the closer puddle pretending to be a jacaré (alligator.)

These friends took mom and dad on a date.

He had to empty the water from the canoe first...
then they had to go through some narrow places...
...only barely wide enough for the canoe.

Dad got to help harvest tucuma.
And gather poles for a fishing outing.

This great family took us to a popular swimming spot where the water rises up right among the trees.
We had fun splashing and...
...doing a little boating.
Kalina wasn't feeling well, so she just rested in a hammock.

During the week of "carnaval" a lot of churches sponsor an "acampamento" where youth and families can go to an encampment away from the city. The younger girls in our family have some very good little friends who invited us to the baptist acampamento, where we enjoyed some volleyball...
...and, of course, some water play.

These good friends took us to a quiet little water hole way out in the jungle.

He was very helpful when our van got stuck in the mud.

One friend took us on a little side river, where of course we did a little fishing.
And saw interesting things, like this giant acorn.

A favorite pass-time here is "tomar banho"--which is to go swimming, there are plenty of fun swimming holes here!

Even simple outings like going to skip rocks is huge fun in the Amazon!
