Itacoatiara is the indigenous word for "Pedra Pintada" - painted rock. This rock is a monument of when the first catholic missionaries came to Itacoatiara. |
Our community here is maravilhoso!
We love all the people who help us so much everywhere we go every day.
|
The librarians are so nice. They check out books to us by hand in their binder.
(it's a lot to write because we check out a lot of books)
|
This is Anderson our friend from our branch is here at his mechanic shop.
He helps us all the time because our van has lots of problems.
|
Our dear friend Meiri really wanted to do some haircuts for us.
She and her daughter had a lot of fun working on mom. |
Our friends from the supermarket always greet us and help us find what we need. |
One time they took groceries all the way to our widowed neighbor's house, unloaded them, and took the cart back.
So sweet!
|
There are lots of different kinds of churches all over the city.
they had a lot of enthusiastic loud music. everyone was so loving and welcoming. they all gave hugs afterwards |
This is a catholic church. we made friends with the catholic bishop. they are also really nice and invited us to their women day celebration. |
There are also so many restaurants that are run by families.
this is one of our favorites. they give us a lot of food for not very much money |
the people at the post office were so patient trying to figure out how to mail things for us |
the print store guys are also very patient helping us print and copy things. It's sweet that the owner put up a picture his little daughter colored above the computer. |
